Inquest into death of former GDF rank to finally commence

10 years later…

A total of five witnesses are expected to be called during the inquest proceedings which is expected to commence into the death of 22-year-old Rolex Clay, a former Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank who was discovered hanging from the bottom flat beam of his grandmother’s home in 2011.

As always, the coroner’s inquest will investigate what caused the death of Clay, and will determine if anyone should face criminal charges in connection with the young man’s death.
In a recent notice, the Registrar of the Supreme Court had indicated that Magistrate Esther Sam will conduct the proceedings at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.
Kwesi Abrams of Anna Regina Police Station, Kevel Clay and Robert Clay of Lot 27 Hoppie Street, Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, Leonie Clay and Ramnanan Singh of Lot X Sparta, Essequibo Coast, are the witnesses expected to take the stand before Magistrate Sam.
It has been 10 years since the now dead man was discovered by his grandmother hanging from his T-shirt in her Lot 165 Hoppie Street, Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast home.
At the time of his death, Clay’s relatives could not provide reasons as to why he suddenly took his own life.
