Intense final expected from RHT Gizmos & Gadgets, Blairmont
BCB/Elizabeth Styles Under-21 tournament…
The historic Port Mourant Cricket Ground will be the venue for what is expected to be a colossal clash between two titans each vying to be the Under-21 champion of cricket in the Ancient County.
The final match in the Berbice Cricket Board/Elizabeth Styles’ Under-21 tournament bowls off tomorrow, and this final encounter will feature the unstoppable Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets cricket team coming up against the unmovable Blairmont Community Centre cricket team.
The teams are naturally arch-rivals. Each has pummelled Tucber Park Cricket Club and Albion Community Centre respectively to advance to the highly anticipated final of the tournament.
The Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets team appears stronger on paper, but cricket matches are won by the team that plays better on the day of the contest.
National Under-19 players Kevin Sinclair, Junior Sinclair and Kevlon Anderson will spearhead a strong Rose Hall Town batting side, and will receive support from all-rounders Keith Simpson, Chanderpaul Govindan, Mahendra Gopilall, Tyrese Sealey and the highly talented Jonathan Rampersaud, who at 14 years old is the youngest franchise player in Guyana.
The Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets bowling will be spearheaded by pacer Sylus Tyndall and Kevlon Anderson, while off spinners Kevin Sinclair, Jonathan Rampersaud, Tyrese Sealey, Junior Sinclair and left-arm spinners Keith Simpson and Jeremy Sandia will offer a lot of support.
Blairmont Community Centre have, on a number of occasions, proved they are no walkover. Having defeated the talented Albion Community Centre on their home turf in the semifinal recently, they have in skipper Javed Karim a capable all-rounder who can change the course of any game with his batting and left-arm medium pace.
He will receive support from Marvin Prashad, Seon Glasgow, Nigel Deodat, Fawaz Gafoor and Wazim Ishan.
The Blairmont Community Centre spin attack could, on the day, visit severe problems on the powerful Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets batting line-up. However, it must be considered that Rose Hall Town easily defeated Blairmont in the Berbice Cricket Board New York Business Group Under-19 Final, with Kevin Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Keith Simpson and Junior Sinclair being the outstanding performers for the champion.
The winner of this tournament will pocket $70,000 and a trophy; the runner-up will pocket $35,000 and trophy, while the man of the final would receive a cash prize and trophy. Bissoondyal Singh, representative of Elizabeth Styles, will be present to hand over the prizes after the game has been concluded.
