International Olympic Day activities set for June 26

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), in observance of “International Olympic Day,” will be organizing a number of activities with the highlight being the “10km fun run, Jog and Walk” and the “10 km team Run Competition” on Sunday June 26 from 06:00 hrs.

The 10km fun run, Jog and Walk will commence at the YMCA, Thomas Lands and head north along Camp Street then east along Carifesta Avenue onto the Rupert Craig Highway. The athletes will then turn back in the vicinity of the Liliendaal Access Road then continues west via Kitty Public Road, south into Vlissengen Road.

They will then head east into Thomas Lands to finish at the start point (YMCA). This event will cater for any individual ten (10) years and older and on completion participants will each receive an International Olympic Committee Certificate and T-Shirt.

The 10 km team Run Competition will commence at 06:30 hrs and will start outside the YMCA and will follow the same course as the fun run. A team must consist of four (4) Males and Two (2) Females all of whom must complete the course in order to gain points for their team. Participation forms can be uplifted from Olympic house, 76 High Street, Kingston and must be duly stamped and signed by an authorized official of your organization and should be returned to Olympic House along with an application to participate no later than 15:00hrs on Wednesday June 22, 2026.

Monetary awards will be made to the first three (3) teams to finish as follows, 1st place $72,000, 2nd place $48,000 and 3rd place $36,000.

No association, Club, School, Business Enterprise, Diplomatic Mission etc. will be permitted to field more than two (2) teams.

Completed Entry forms must be returned to Olympic house no later than 15:00 hrs on Wednesday June 22, 2016 and will not be accepted after the stated due date.
