RE/MAX, a world-renowned real estate company, held the official launch of RE/MAX Guyana. Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh, who spoke at the launching, said the brand’s presence in Guyana is timely.
“Today, more than ever before, international visitors, international investors, international companies, and your more discerning domestic consumer is looking for brands that they recognise. And so it’s not an accident that we’re seeing the turning of the sod for more Marriotts, more Hyatts, more Best Westerns, the entry of international food chains, the entry of international brands in literally every sector and segment of economic activity. And so it does not come as a surprise to me that, in the real estate space, a major international brand like RE/MAX is entering the Guyanese market,” Dr. Singh indicated.
One of the founders of RE/MAX Guyana, Shiv Misir, a Guyanese based in Toronto, explained what led the RE/MAX brand to come to Guyana.
“I’ve been travelling back and forth for the past 40 years, and I’ve noticed over the past years that there’s a need for organised real estate in Guyana – something that I haven’t seen. And I’m hoping that with RE/MAX coming on board, it will start some form of organised real estate, where people can come and get training, get the knowledge, get the expertise.
He further highlighted that the brand is currently dealing with a number of foreign investors, and with the influx of foreign investors that are currently looking to invest in Guyana, having a well-known brand would be encouraging to these investors.
“We’re dealing with a lot of investors right now – foreign investors – because the brand is internationally known. These people are coming to Guyana feeling comfortable if they know they have to deal with a renowned, established brand,” Misir stated.
With the recent discovery of oil in Guyana, many people are seeking business and investment opportunities in one of the world’s fastest growing economies, with many in the diaspora looking to return to Guyana.
Operating in over 100 countries, the company is distinguished by having the largest market share in the world, which is measured through volume of real estate transactions.
Guyana is said to have been the only country in the South American continent that did not have a RE/MAX office.
The entrance of RE/MAX into Guyana is expected to offer world-class real estate professional services
The official doors of RE/MAX are expected to be opened soon, and the offices will be located at Movietowne Guyana. (G2)
