Is it… a new world order?

After the US Delta Force raid to remove Mad Maduro to the States for drug smuggling, there’s been a lot of chattering about a “new world order”. Meaning that the “rules” undergirding the old order have been thrown out by the US under President Trump, who invaded another country without declaring war. But is it really so?? Your Eyewitness doesn’t think so. After WWII – the war to end all wars for the present world order – the big ones have always done what they wanted and just covered their actions under various justifications that didn’t really cut it if you chose to look closely.
Let’s take a (cursory) look at the above accusation, and the Yanks will tell you that they didn’t “INVADE” Venezuela but merely ran an operation to “extract” that dastardly drug kingpin Mad Maduro!! And it was he who was waging a war against America – by shipping drugs there that killed thousands and thousands of Americans, innit?? There was even a term for this kind of war – “hybrid war”!! What was America to do?? Grin and bear it? Well, back in February 2022, hadn’t Russia’s Putin set a modern precedent when he sent troops into Ukraine on a “special operation” to recover lands that wanted to return to Mother Russia?? And here – the US hasn’t even left troops in Venezuela after their “extraction”!!
These “special operations” had been launched not just to stop drug smuggling – the “war on drugs” – but, for instance, after 9/11, a “war on terror” (WoT) that lasted from 2001 to 2021. War wasn’t declared against Afghanistan – that was simply the terrain on which the WoT was waged. It ended when Osama was taken out in Pakistan by a SEAL Special Ops team – with no squawks about the US violating “international law”. Similarly, a Delta team took out Iraq’s Saddam in that hole he’d been holed up in.
Then as an umbrella for all these interventions there’s the granddaddy of them all – to “make the world safe for democracy or socialism”. You take your pick – at your own risk, of course!! The former was championed by the US and the “West”, while the latter was championed by the USSR/Russia and later China!! Castro in Cuba and Jagan in British Guiana had to be brought into line by showing them the error of their ways – condignly! And from the other side, this was the fate of Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
The “special operations” for Venezuela started out to protect democracy against the totalitarian, communist Chavez and his successor, Mad Maduro.
But when its champion concluded that the probable winner of a democratic election might threaten the aftermath, the “war on drugs” rationale was trotted out!!

…immigration??
Your Eyewitness wasn’t surprised when he learnt we’d been asked to take some of the “illegal immigrants” the US was deporting. As the “fastest growing economy in the world” on a per capita basis – meaning we don’t have that many people to divvy up all that oil money flowing up! – we were a prime candidate. Especially since we’ve been beating the bushes to get skilled folks for all the new positions being created in our development thrust!!
When you combine this with the US thinking we owe them one for taking out our nemesis Mad Maduro, you’d appreciate that turning down the Yanks wouldn’t be the smartest move in the book right now!! But we gotta choose who to accept and who to reject. For sure we don’t want no Tren de Aragua operatives to open up shop here!! And for sure we want skilled personnel in whatever field who gotta accept the same wages and conditions as locals.
Then the US would be assisting with the resettlement, no?

Getting the US – or any – oil majors back into Venezuela ain’t gonna be no easy sell. They’re gonna be playing it safe to see how matters go down with Delcy since they’ll be the prime targets for reprisals.
