It’s a new…New World

Who said there ain’t no Santa Claus?? He might’ve arrived a bit late, and his hair may’ve been yellow rather than white – but hey, with traffic being what it is, who isn’t late nowadays!!? But arrive he did as Uncle Donald – with his little green elves in the form of the Elite Delta Forces flying in on (chopper) sleighs to manacle Mad Maduro meekly and render him to face the music in the Southern District Court of New York!! He must now be mulling over the precedence of fellow drug trafficker Nasty Noriega’s trial that earned him twenty years in the slammer!! Ain’t it sweet!! What a guy!!
So what happened to the MILLIONS of armed Venezuelans Mad Maduro had boasted he’d mobilise to protect him?? It’s now clear that Trump’s new sanctions with steroids – seizing tankers with Venezuelan oil – were effective because things had actually been getting better for those Venezuelans who hadn’t fled – and the new hardships and shortages were too sudden and too much!! Venezuelans weren’t ready to deal with another round of eating out of garbage cans!
But we gotta be realistic and accept that there might be enough true believers who can create disorder for any new government that’s gonna replace Mad Maduro’s. And this might create a new tsunami of refugees across our Essequibo border. The Yanks should also be skittish about this possibility – since the heavy oil from which their Gulf refineries had been suffering withdrawal symptoms might then be at risk. Can’t have that. Can they??
Their focus, therefore, should be to get the Venezuelan economy stabilised ASAP – by returning their oil company PDVSA to profitability. This would then even encourage many of the eight million who fled with their skills to return and help with the rebuilding!! Who knows – some of those Spanish señoritas giving our local housewives conniptions might leave our jurisdiction?!! But our politicians should also realise that with a friendlier body in Miraflores Palace – even if she ain’t the fulsome Maria Machado – the US friendly glances might shift westwards!!
Kamla’s already made it clear that her fervent support of US Operation Southern Spear was gonna be repaid with the return of the Venezuelan Dragon Gas Field – which will reenergise (pun intended!) her economy!! So what’s gonna be our ask?? We can do worse than have the US insist that whoever takes the reins of government in Venezuela accept that the ICJ decision is the way to go on their border controversy!!
It’s a win-win scenario for all involved. The Arbitral Award was the first test – requested by Venezuela!! – on the Monroe Doctrine!! Let the ICJ decision be the first test of the Monroe Corollary!! It’s a brave new world!!

…(extradition) world
Are there still some holdouts on your Eyewitness oft -stated assertion that a whole new world order’s being created before our eyes?? Did anyone think they’d see a sitting president of a country seized and extradited?? Remember that Noriega of Panama was just the strongman general, and there was another fella as president – Francisco Rodríguez. So all those clamouring and yapping about our “sovereignty” in the face of the US extradition request for Sanction Man better take notice!!
Notice that even Russia and China who’re allies of Venezuela and Mad Maduro, haven’t drawn no line on the US’ actions!! Russia can have what it wants in Ukraine, China in Taiwan and the US in the Western Hemisphere. This ain’t no secret – it was announced in the new US Security Strategy issued last month!! For Guyanese, the extradition oughta be a no-brainer – even without the demands of realpolitik!!
Who really believes Sanction Man and Daddy didn’t smuggle gold to the MidEast through Miami??
