ITTF Ecuador Open: Britton registers 2 in 2 on successful day 1
Shemar Britton commenced his journey in the Ecuador Open which is apart of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Contender Series. He defeated both his opponents with ease in game one and two.
In game one he battled against Ignacio Paul Cedeno Ponce of Ecuador winning 4-1, despite losing the first set (11-6) Britton returned with vigour to win the other four sets 11-8, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6. With his confidence riding high, he would now have to prepare for his second matchup of the day.
In round two Britton faced off against Rodrigo Ali VIGO IZAGUIRRE of Peru. The encounter was a definite thriller as Britton took early command of the first set winning 11-6. But, Rodgrigo bounced back and stole the second set 11-8, the talented Britton persisted and won the next two sets 11-8 and 11-6 to lead 3-1. Rodrigo then copped another win 11-7 to slightly increase his margin of a win, with the game at 3-2. Britton dug deep and brought his “A” game winning set six 11-8 to pocket his second win of the day.

Britton is a a former Caribbean Under-21 and men’s singles champion, 2019 Caribbean championships men’s singles bronze medallist and Guyana Under-21 and men’s singles silver medallist.
