Jagdeo keynote speaker at World Development Forum in Mexico
Guyana’s former President and current Leader of the Opposition, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, is currently attending the first ‘World Sustainable Development Forum’, being held in Mexico City under the theme ‘Implementing the Paris Agreement and the SDGs’.
This event commenced on February 1, and will conclude on February 3.
Co-sponsored by the Government of Mexico City and a group of world class universities in Mexico, and supported by the business and industrial as well as research and academic communities in Mexico, the forum will consist of keynote addresses, high level panel discussions, and parallel sessions focused on specific themes and issues.
Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, who has a Master’s degree in Economics and holds a number of global leadership positions in the areas of sustainable development, green growth and climate change, has been appointed Head Speaker of the forum.
Other renowned speakers include political leaders who have been, or currently are, heads of states and heads of governments, distinguished winners of the Nobel Prize, ministers holding relevant portfolios from a large number of countries, as well as leaders of business and industry, civil society, and research and academic institutions.
The WSDF is expected to attract a global audience, and youths are expected to have a special role in the meeting.
