Jaguars again top points’ table

WICB PCL 4-Day Championships…
Veerasammy Permaul propelled the Guyana Jaguars to a commanding 219-run victory over previous tournament leaders Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in a match of the WICB PCL 4-Day Championships played on Sunday at the National Stadium at Providence in Guyana.
In the process, he recorded his 500th first-class wicket and returned the Jaguars to the top of the points’ standings.
Round 3 having been concluded, Jaguars now lead the points’ standings with 44.6 points; marginally ahead of the Barbados Pride, who have defeated Jamaica Scorpions to record their second consecutive win, after opening their campaign with a loss. The Pride are on 44.4 points.
In the all-islands derby, a career-best spell from Sheeno Berridge undermined hosts Windward Islands Volcanoes and set up Leeward Islands Hurricanes for their first win of the season — by 165 runs. Volcanoes sit third on 32.8 points, after recording a win, a loss and a draw.
Trinidad and Tobago Red Force are fourth on 32.6 points. They also have a win, a draw and a loss to their account.
The Hurricanes’ win means they have broken the spell of two successive losses, and have jumped out of the cellar to land on 26.6 points.
The Scorpions occupy the cellar with 21.2 points after two draws and a loss.
Round 4 commences on Thursday, February 5, when current leaders and five-time defending champions, Guyana Jaguars, face the dwindling Scorpions team at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, while the Pride would battle the Hurricanes and Red Force would tackle the Volcanoes.
