Jaguars extinguish Red Force

CWI/ Digicel Regional 4-Day Championship 2017-18…

– Permaul takes 9 wickets, Bramble 9 catches

Defending champions, Guyana Jaguars completed a comfortable innings and 217 runs victory over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 15 minutes before the end of the first session on day four of their fourth round Digicel Regional Four-Day Tournament clash at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Sunday.

In the second innings, the Red Force lower order showed patience and application but Jaguars left-arm spinner claimed his 23rd five-wicket haul and was supported by wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble with nine dismissals to end the resistance at 147 all out in the 76th over.
It was a disappointing performance from the Red Force who failed to put up a fight after winning their last game at home inside three days against the Volcanoes. The champions have now beaten the Red Force in six of their last seven encounters and will remain on top of the points table with their third win in the season heading into the first mid-season break.
The hosts began the day on 106 for 6 still behind by 258 runs but Imran Khan and Daniel St. Clair who batted sensibly towards the end on day three could not carry on for much longer to pull off a miracle.
In the day’s second over, St. Clair who batted for 75 balls (2×4) offered Bramble his first catch of the day with the score on 112 for 7 to end the 50-run partnership. Khan who looked set for a big score suffered a similar fate after facing 130 balls with five fours and after his dismissal; the injured Denesh Ramdin was left with the bowlers.

Gudakesh Motie who replaced Keemo Paul, who was on the verge of a five-fer, accounted for Charles before the Permaul put the final nail in the Red Force coffin with Ramdin left on 22 from 80 balls. There was a stoppage of 11 minutes due to a drizzle which only delayed the inevitable.
Both teams will have a week off before bouncing back in action on November 30. The Red Force will battle the Hurricanes at Warner Park while the three-time defending champions will host the Pride at Providence.
