Jaguars flatten Scorpions to go on top

– Pride, Red Force also complete big wins

The Guyana Jaguars took 35 overs on the final day to complete an emphatic seven-wicket victory over the Jamaica Scorpions at the Sabina Park on Monday. Resuming on 79/2 still 103 runs away from victory, the Jaguars lost their most dependable and productive batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul early for five but Man of the Match Raymon Reifer played a well calculated innings alongside vice-captain Vishaul Singh to see the Jaguars home.
The left handed pair featured in an unbroken 78 run match winning partnership after Shiv was sent back at 106/3. Singh scored his second half century of the season to follow up 71 that was made against the Scorpions at Providence last November. He finished on 63 not out while Reifer hit three fours and a six from 63 balls in 37.

After the clinical performance, the Jaguars displaced the scorpions to go back on top of the points table.
The points leaders will now travel to Trinidad and Tobago where they will meet the Red Force at the Queen’s Park Oval from Friday. Other round seven matches bring together the Pride and Volcanoes at the Kensington Oval while the Scorpions hosts the Hurricanes at Sabina Park.
In the other matches of the round, hosts Barbados Pride complete a massive innings and 26 runs victory over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes inside three days at the Kensington Oval while the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force blew away the Windward Islands Volcanoes by 172 runs on the final day at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada.
The Red Force were inspired by leg spinning all-rounder Imran Khan who picked up his 16th First Class five-for to bowl out the hosts for 202 after they were set 375 for victory.

At the Kensington Oval, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes needed to get 151 to make the hosts bat again and were bundled out for 124 following on. West Indies speedster Kemar Roach was unplayable picking up 4/18 from 16 overs. Only Kacy Carty showed grit with a well composed 79 when no other batsman passed 15.
