Jaguars keep Hurricanes calm at Warner Park

On a rain hit second day, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes were kept quiet by defending champions Guyana Jaguars at Warner Park on Saturday in the second round match of the Digicel Regional Four Day Tournament.

The day began with the hosts on 4 without loss replying to the Jaguars’ first innings score of 293. The visitors made scoring tough for the Hurricanes who only scored 40 runs in the first session losing two wickets in the process from the 26 overs bowled.
The second and third sessions were extended after 88 minutes were lost due to rain and when the umpires called off play 12 minutes before the schedule close of play the Hurricanes had limped to 157 for 9 from a total of 72.2 overs.
Captain Kieran Powell top scored with a patient 79. Gudakesh Motie is the pick of the Jaguars bowlers with three wickets while Raymon Reifer has two and Keon Joseph, Christopher Barnwell and Veerasammy Permaul one a piece.
The Hurricanes will resume this morning at 9:30h trailing by 136 runs with Jerimiah Louis on 23 and Gavin Tonge 3.
