Sans Souci Jaguars defeated G Square Cavaliers Sports Club by 17 runs to win the Kelly Dan-Jou T20 tournament on Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre (WCC) ground.
Led by an attacking half century by Zameer Zaman, Sans Souci Jaguars posted 172-8, batting first. Zaman struck eight fours and three sixes in a top score of 61. He shared in an opening stand of 75 with Safraz Mohamed who scored 30 with five fours while all-rounder Nokta Moses slammed three fours and four maximums in a rapid 46. Dayawant Shiwnandan picked up 3-22.
G Square Cavaliers responded with 155-9 with Kamal Khan making 45 (3×4,6×4) while Jaggernauth Manbodh got 28; Moses returned to take 3-18 and pacer Olwin Paton 3-19.
Jaguars pocketed a trophy and $50,000 while Cavaliers took home a trophy and $20,000; Moses received $10,000 for being the man-of-the-match.
In his brief remarks at the presentation ceremony, secretary of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee Nazeer Mohamed congratulated the winners and thanked the sponsor.
