Georgetown will be led by Guyana Jaguars captain and West Indies player
Leon Johnson as the franchise earlier this week released an 18 member squad to play in the Jaguars Franchise League 50 over edition.
Johnson, who was recently named as the cricketer of the year at the recent Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Annual Award Ceremony will have the duty of three players with regional experience-namely vice-captain Christopher Barnwell,
Shemroy Barrington and Robin Bacchus.
The remainder of the squad is made up of familiar faces and consistent performers that play in Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) tournaments.
Shemroy Barrington and Elton Baker are making a return in Franchise cricket after a hiatus due to professional duties in Trinidad and Tobago, Canada and the United States of America.
The tournament was slated to start on December 22 2016 but was push back to January 3 2017 due to the consistent rainfall. On Saturday it was confirmed that the tournament has been rescheduled for a second time for the said reason it was postponed for initially.
The tournament is being used by the GCB to select its squad to contest in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) 50 over tournament scheduled to start on January 24.
