Jamaican hurdles champion headed to AP Invitational

Current Jamaican National 400m hurdles champion, Rushell Clayton, will be at the Aliann Pompey Invitational meet set for Saturday, July 6th at 15:00h at the National Track and Field Centre at Leonora, WCD.

A preliminary list of this weekend’s participants

Clayton recently won the 400m hurdles at the Jamaica National Trials with a time of 54.73s, and is also the defending 400m hurdles champ of the AP Invitational.
With Guyana now developing its 400m hurdles potential, having the Jamaican national champion in attendance is definitely going to be a big boost for the meet.
Clayton is also ranked number 29 in the world, and is improving as she competes. A big win could mean rising in the world ranking for Clayton.
Guyanese athletes now have a chance to compete against a class performer, and the ability to pick the brain of Clayton will foster development for that particular event.
This International talent will add to the presence of Ghanian Sprinter Joseph Amoah, who has also confirmed his participation in this weekend’s competition. Amoah is expected to compete in the 100m and 200m against some of Guyana’s best over that distance.
