Jamual John triumphed yet again over nemesis Geron Williams on Saturday in the National Park to win the “Dash for Cash” race.
The event was hosted by United We Stand Cycling Club as the end of the cycling season quickly approaches and with a number of cash prizes up for grabs it was no surprise that top cyclists turned out in their numbers. However, some of them left disgruntled as the prize money was a bit too little.
In the early stages of the 30-lap race it was clear that first place would go to either of three cyclists; those wheelmen were Geron Williams, Walter Grant-Stuart and Jamual John.
It all boiled down to endurance and tactics at the end as John held off Williams and Grant-Stuart to cross the finish line in first place with a time of one hour six minutes 25.65 seconds.
Williams had to settle for second place for the second time in a row while Walter Grant-Stuart came in third.
Meanwhile in the Veteran’s field, Warren McKay held off a quality field to finish first while Briton John beat Curtis Dey in the Juniors category.
Of the eleven prime prizes up for grabs, it was split between Jamual John, Andrew Hicks, Williams and Grant-Stuart.
“Dash for Cash” signaled the end of circuit action for the cyclists this season however, the overall cycling season is still alive with at least two more road races on the cards.
