Johnson to lead WI President’s XI against India

— 4 Guyanese named in squad

Leon Johnson leads a list of four Guyanese named to play for a West Indies President’s XI against the touring India side. Johnson joins opener Rajendra Chandrika, middle-order batsman Vishaul Singh and fast bowler Keon Joseph in a 12-member squad announced by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
The squad will play a two-day Tour Match against the visiting Indian test team beginning today at the Warner Park Ground in Basseterre St Kitts and Nevis. The game is the first of two practice matches scheduled for the Indians.

Rayon Griffith, the manager and assistant coach for the Guyana Jaguars, will turn out as Manager/Coach for the unit while Henderson Springer will fill the role of Coach. Ariane Mangar will perform the duties of Physiotherapist and Hector Martinez Charles will be the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.
The team consists of six players who would have played Test cricket already. They are Johnson; Jermaine Blackwood; Chandrika; Shane Dowrich; Shai Hope and Jomel Warrican.
