A Joint Services rank is one of six persons who have been arrested in connection with two drug busts made by members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) early Saturday morning.
About 00:25h on Saturday, acting on information received, Police stopped and searched a motor car on the western side of the Demerara Harbour Bridge and found 927 grams of cannabis packaged in small ziplock bags. The driver, who currently serves in the Disciplined Services, and three male passengers were arrested.
A few hours later, Police in Bartica went to the Bartica Stelling about 08:45h and detained a 32-year-old female resident of Patentia, West Bank Demerara (WBD) who was in possession of a plastic that contained two taped parcels of compressed cannabis, which amounted to 1169 grams. Based on further information, a 30-year-old male resident of La Grange, WBD, was arrested nearby.
On Friday, a rank attached to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) was intercepted by his colleagues at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara (ECD) with some 21 kilograms of marijuana in his possession.
The rank, Delon Alexander, of New Amsterdam, Berbice, was headed to Georgetown when the car in which he was the sole occupant was stopped by ranks of the TSU who were at the time acting on information. When the vehicle was searched, some 10 well-wrapped parcels were reportedly found in several sections of the car, including the back seat and in the trunk.
