Joint Services ranks come under fire from Syndicato Gang

A joint patrol comprising ranks from the Guyana Defence Force and the Guyana Police Force, on Wednesday, came under fire while patrolling in the Cuyuni River.

According to the GDF, the Officers were patrolling near the Guyana/Venezuela border when they came under fire from the Venezuelan shore of the border. It is suspected that the attack was launched by the notorious Syndicato gang.

However, no ranks were injured during the ordeal.

It was related that aggressive joint boat patrols from the Guyanese security forces have since been intensified in the Cuyuni River.
