Jones advocates for a “healthier nation”

…as 4th Kares Fitness Challenge officially launched

Director of Sport Christopher Jones is advocating persons strive to be more active and promote a healthy lifestyle as he spoke at the launch of the fourth annual Kares engineering Fitness Challenge at the Giftland Mall Entertainment Strip on Thursday evening.

Jones who is also a part of the Scotiabank Celebrity challenge stated, “I am happy to be part of this activity and I think everyone should make it their duty to come out and support; find your own challenge and strive to be healthy.”
Other starters in the celebrity challenge are Miss World Guyana Veena Mookram, Radio announcer/ Disc Jockey Akelo Elliot, Radio Announcer/ Television Presenter Macalea Cameron also known as The Remix Chic, Chief Executive of Pulse Entertainment Robbie Singh and Co-owner of Red Entertainment Saskia Wijngaarde who have thrown their hats in the ring.
Scotiabank is the official sponsor for celebrity challenge segment and will be making what is understood to be a huge financial contribution to the Giving Hope Foundation and Help and Shelter.
One of the Organisers Jamie McDonald explained the event will bring a greater dynamic that those of previous years and they will have a fifth event which will only be revealed at the end of the event.
Another organiser Jordana Ramsey-Gonsalves lauded the growth of women in the event which has eleven female entrants this year.
Nikita Persaud of Kares Engineering expressed they will continue to support the event as it is way of helping to promote a healthy lifestyle.
In 2017, it was a Cross Fit 592 sweep with marque athletes Dillon Mahadeo and Semonica Duke taking the individual titles while their gym won the team event.
Spectators will be charged $1,000 for entry into the National Park while children under 10 years old will be admitted free. Spectator Games will also be conducted.
Teams from Suriname and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) are set to throw strong challenges to defending champions Cross Fit 592.
