Junior Chess players begin qualifiers tomorrow

The Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) will be holding its 2016 National Junior Qualifiers Tournament over the next two weekends at the National Racquet Center, Woolford Avenue.
It is expected that the tournament will commencing on Saturday October 1 at 13:00h and will head into Sunday October 2 from 09:30h.
The action will them shift over to the following weekend where at 10:00h on Saturday October 8 will see the tournament wind down a

nd the final day of tournament on October 9 from 09:30h.
The tournament will feature the Swiss style which sees seven rounds being played with a time control of 90 minutes per player.
Additionally, a senior tournament will be running alongside this tournament.
The tournament which commenced back in 2007 has seen champions such as Ron Motilall, Haifeng Su (twice), Anthony Drayton and Taffin Khan and this year a new champion will definitely be crowned as Haifeng Su, now residing in Canada is over the age limit.
The organizers wish to remind potential participants that in order to be eligible for qualification in the Junior Qualifiers, players must be 20 years of age and under.
The GCF invites all chess players to contend for the title.
