Jeremy Garrett scored arguably one of the most important goals of his career to help the National Under-15 team win the Soualiga Invitational Football Tournament in St Martin on Sunday evening.
Garrett’s strike ensured Guyana gained a 1-0 victory over the hosts to continue a fine showing by the Junior Jaguars team in the tournament.
The starting XI for the final read:  Shawn Adonis (GK); Okifi Patoir; Joshua Braithwaite (C); Wayne Da Silva; Jermaine Padmore; Tyrel Khan; Jermaine Garrett; Orville Daniels; Omari Glasgow; Ravon Bayley and Ronaldo Rodrigues.

The Junior Jaguars produced a terrific performance in St Martin to bring home the silverware

Prior to the final, the youngsters had defeated Dominica 1-0 via an Omari Glasgow goal to secure a spot in the final. Wins also came against British Virgin Islands where they won 5-0 thanks to Orville Hinds, Ronaldo Rodrigues, Tyrel Khan, Ken Salvador and Omari Glasgow.  Against Martinque, Troni Semple made the 1-0 win possible.
Their other two matches were goalless draws against Guadeloupe and Barbados.
Prior to departing, Head Coach Bryan Joseph told Guyana Times Sport that given the performances in French Guiana last December and the constant camps, the side   had a very good chance of reaching the semi-finals or even the finals. Likewise, the skipper, Joshua Braithwaite had expressed optimism over his team’s chances in the tournament. “I expect the team to win this time as we’ve been together for a long time. This is the fourth camp that the national programme has had for us and I think this time, we won’t be having any excuse; I think we should win this time.”
The skipper said it was a great feeling to lead the national team, as it gave him a chance to “lead from the front” and fulfil “one of his goals”.
