Residents raised concerns pertaining to electricity, rehabilitation of their road infrastructure, farming, water and better educational supply during this COVID-19 season, while their children remain at home.
The Minister told the residents that the development of Wales is a top priority for His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali’s Government and they will be working assiduously to transform the landscape of the area and its environs since the devastating impact of the closure of the Wales Sugar Estate is still felt by residents.
According to Indar, as it pertains to the rehabilitation of the roads, residents can expect to see the mobilisation of materials for the rehabilitation of sections of the Free and Easy Road as the contract will be awarded shortly.
As it relates to the complaints made about the lack of electricity supply, Minister Indar posited that he would engage the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) to conduct an assessment to determine whether or not the cost of installation of a network grid is most feasible or whether solar generating units would be best suitable because of the density of the population and spacing of residents in the community.

One of the main matters highlighted by the young people in the area was the lack of educational materials. Minister Indar promised to reach out to his colleague Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, so as to have printed school materials delivered to the community.
The Minister also distributed a number of hampers to the vulnerable residents of the area as part of a COVID-19 relief.
