Stafrei Alexander and Owen Belfield are set to go on trial from next Monday, February 28, for the 2015 murder of Richard Remington, a resident of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Alexander, also known as “Ratty” and “Mad Dog”, and Owen Belfield are jointly charged with murdering Remington between February 9 and 12, 2015 at Wismar, Linden. Following their arraignment before Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds on Tuesday, these two defendants pleaded not guilty to the joint charge in regard to the capital offence. They are both being represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson. State Counsel Seeta Bishundial is presenting the case for the prosecution.
The decomposed remains of Remington were found in a clump of bushes along a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in Christianburg/ Cholmondeley Hill, Region 10. He had been shot three times, including once to the head.
The now dead man’s relatives had told the Police that he had left his home three days before his body was discovered. They had also opined that he might have been lured into the bushy spot by someone he knew. (G1)
