Joshua Kalekyezi upset boys 14 and under number two seed Jordan Beaton in their semifinal match of the Boys 14 and under at the weekend at the President’s College Tennis Court.

As rivalries in the Bakewell Junior Tennis Tournament heat up, Kalekyezi shocked Jordan in their heated clash to emerge as winner. Not only did he defeated his highly ranked opponent, but he did so in two exciting sets.
Instead of six match point to win a set the under 12 and 14 categories were reduced to four match points thus Kalekyezi won the match 5-4, (7-2), 4-2. The win for Kalekyezi means he will clash with Viraj Sharma, who defeated Vijay Sharma in the other semifinal, in the final.
Viraj trumped Vijay by comfortable margins in both sets, winning 4-1, 4-2 in the two sets.
Other players to advance to the finals are; Jeremiah Kalekyezi the younger brother of Joshua. He will meet with Vadeanand Resaul in the boys 12 and under finals. Sarah Klautky and Kalyca Fraser will play in the girls 14 and under finals. Heimraj Resaul will tackle Mark McDonald in the boys 18 and under finals. Meanwhile in the Girls 18 and under finals, Nicola Ramdyhan will clash with Kalyca Fraser.
