Cross-fit action will return to the National Park tarmac in a few weeks as Kares Crossfit seeks to bring out the ‘beast’ in not only Guyanese but other Caribbean athletes in the sixth instalment of the Kares Caribbean Fitness Challenge.
Dillon “The Beast” Mahadeo stunned the competition effortlessly last year
The event titled “Bring out the beast in you” will have plenty of muscle on show as over 50 prospective athletes vie for a plethora of increased prizes, which were made more tangible through the support of the event’s sponsors.
The action, which is expected to commence at 13:00h (1:00pm) on Sunday, February 9 where the likes of five-time male champion Dillon “The Beast” Mahadeo, Paul Meusa, Semonica Duke, and Omisi Williams will put their gladiator status to the test on a tarmac of exercises that will exhilarate participants and fans alike.
Aside from the usual Guyanese suspects, it was revealed that athletes from Suriname and Barbados have already confirmed their attendance while invitations were also sent out to athletes hailing from Jamaica, St Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
One thing that is for certain is the fact that athletes will have the opportunity to get their hands on some lucrative prizes.
With the top prize being $500,000, Mahadeo will be fiercely challenged, as other competitors try to grab the Lotus Hardware-sponsored purse. Should they fall short by a spot or two, there will be no worries with the runners-up prizes slated at $400,000, $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
Registration for the Kares Caribbean Fitness Challenge is currently ongoing and will conclude on Friday, January 17. Registration fees are US$25 (roughly $5000).
