Kares Engineering Inc. is now the title sponsor of the Boyce and Jefford Classic athletics championships. This was revealed at a press briefing held by the organisers of the annual event which is now in its eighth year of existence.
The event was rebranded the “Kares Engineering Inc./Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Classic” organizer Edison Jefford said.
Meanwhile Chairman of the Boyce and Jefford Classic, Colin Boyce expressed “sincere gratitude for having Kares Engineering Inc. partnering with us at this very crucial time for partnering with us to host the eight edition of the Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Championship.”

Boyce pointed out that it is important that Kares is now on board as the former sponsors Digicel have found it “difficult” to continue the partnership with the Boyce and Jefford outfit.
He commended the CEO of Kares Engineering, Radesh Rameshwar for “rising to the challenge” and ensuring that the athletes compete without worry.
Boyce a former athlete, expressed hope that by 2018/2019 the event would be run on a synthetic track facility in Linden as the Boyce and Jefford Classic was birthed in Linden and will remain there.
Representing the Kares Engineering group was the company’s Communications Consultant, Mondale Smith who said that while Kares is a construction company it is also concerned about building Guyana through its youth who are the future of the country as “Kares cares”.
Over 140 athletes will be competing at the Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Classic VIII, with 108 of those athletes being local competitors. The remainder will be a mixture of overseas-based Guyanese and international athletes with some coming from as far as Uganda.
Track Clubs will put their best athletes on show as they bid for a first prize of 1 Million dollars while the runner-ups will walk away with $500,000, third place $300,000 and fourth place $200,000.
Athletes will have the chance to win cash prizes in the international events while there is also a purse up for grabs in the Champion Male and Female athlete categories.
The event will run off on August 12th and continues on August 13th at the McKenzie Sports Club Ground in Linden.
