
The stage is set for the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Super Bantamweight Championship showdown following the official weigh-in ceremony held at Pegasus Corporate Suites on Friday evening, with all fighters successfully making weight ahead of the card.
The main event will see the undefeated Tanzanian Salmin Kassim come in at 121.6 pounds (lbs), while challenger and home boy Elton Dharry tipped the scales at 122 lbs, setting up a closely matched contest at the limit. The bout, hosted by title sponsor Pegasus Corporate Suites in Kingston, is expected to headline an event backed by several local stakeholders, including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MoCYS); the Ministry of Tourism; Courts Guyana Inc; Guyana Breweries; Banks DIH; Comfort Sleep; and Abdool & Abdool.

The undercard also features a number of local and regional matchups. In the featured featherweight contest for the Guyana title, Keevin Allicock weighed in at 126 lbs, while his opponent Dexter Marques came in lighter at 124.2 lbs.
In another bout, Jamaica’s Kevin Hilton registered 155 lbs for his clash against Guyana’s Desmond Amsterdam, who came in at 168 lbs.
The opening fight on the card will see pro debutants Richard Howard Jr and Septon Barton face off in a lightweight contest. Barton weighed 132.5 lbs, while Howard Jr was heavier at 136.4 lbs.
Vice President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control, Joshua Abdool, noted that there is growing excitement and tension in the lead-up to the event as local boxing continues to gain momentum. He also highlighted that Triller TV is currently producing a documentary on boxing in Guyana, further signalling increased international attention on the sport locally.
