Keep Fit Cycling Series… Mendes takes points lead after Persaud wins Race 2

Alex Mendes moved to the top of the Keep Fit Series standings after placing third in Race Two, which was won by Robin Persaud on Sunday at the inner circuit of the National Park.
Mendes collected five points to increase his total to 12, one ahead of Race One winner Aaron Newton. Persaud’s victory moved him into third position with 10 points.

Persaud completed the 36-lap Open race in one hour and 16 minutes to secure the maximum 10 points. Segun Hubbard finished second and earned seven points, while Mendes followed in third.
Andre Greene placed fourth to collect three points, Geron Williams earned two points for fifth, and Newton secured one point after finishing sixth. A total of 37 cyclists registered for the event.
Tandeia Noel was the only female cyclist in action. She completed 20 laps and received 10 points.
The series began on July 11, when Newton won the opening 30-lap race in one hour, nine minutes and 22 seconds. Mendes finished second, while Christopher Griffith placed third.

Paul Choo-wee-nam, Jaikarran Sukhai., and Julio Meville occupied the remaining points-paying positions in Race One.
The Keep Fit Series is an initiative of the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club aimed at providing cyclists with track time and regular competition in the absence of sponsored races.
Events are expected to be held on free weekends throughout the year. The points accumulated from each race will be added together, with the leading performers receiving awards at the end of the series.
