Kennar Lewis replaces Xavier Marshall in Jamaica Tallawahs set-up

The Jamaica Tallawahs franchise have announced a temporary replacement for USA player Xavier Marshall, who will be unavailable until September 14 due to international commitments with the United States of America.

Kennar Lewis

Marshall was drafted as the Tallawahs’ ICC Americas player, but draft rules allow for him to be replaced by a Caribbean or overseas player.

The 33-year-old Marshall, who played an integral role in United States of America gaining ODI status, has played seven Test matches for the West Indies, and has to his credit 25 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals. The right- hander seems to be finding his feet in cricket in the latter part of his career, having had an ODI career best of 157*.

Marshall will be replaced by Jamaican batsman Kennar Lewis who played nine times for the Tallawahs last season. His standout performance last year was his Man of the Match winning 49 against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Sabina Park.
The well-built Jamaican Lewis had eight opportunities with the bat in the 2018 Hero Caribbean Premier League, where he scored 182 runs, including a high score of 51.

Lewis will be joining a star-studded Tallawahs squad which will feature fellow Jamaicans Chris Gayle and Andre Russell. The team get their campaign underway against the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday September 6 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. Their home matches will take place between September 12 and September 19, with all five of those games slated for Sabina Park in Kingston.

Jamaica Tallawahs Squad reads: Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Chadwick Walton, Rovman Powell, Zahir Khan, Oshane Thomas, Glenn Phillips, George Worker, Amad Butt, Christopher Lamont, Shamar Springer, Ramaal Lewis, Steven Jacobs, Derval Green, Javelle Glen, Imran Khan, and Kennar Lewis.
