KFC Elite League Cup: Den Amstel beat Victoria; GDF thump Fruta, as tournament continues

Hard-fought matches played on Sunday evening in the Guyana Football Federation’s KFC Elite League Cup resulted in Den Amstel Football Club defeating Victoria Kings and Guyana Defence Force emerging victorious against Fruta Conquerors.
The opening match of the tournament, on November 5 at the Eve Leary Sports Ground in Kingston Georgetown, saw Den Amstel Football Club clinching a 1-0 victory over Victoria Kings Football Club.
Both teams registered robust defensive performances, but Tyrek Grant of Den Amstel broke the deadlock by scoring the lone goal in the 62nd minute of the game. Thereafter, Den Amstel FC demonstrated resolute defensive strength to effectively neutralise numerous close scoring opportunities created by Victoria Kings.

Den Amstel got the better of Victoria Kings

In the second match of the night, Guyana Defence Force Football Club triumphed over Fruta Conquerors Football Club by a score of 2-0. Delroy Fraser netted the initial goal in the 24th minute, and Fruta Conquerors made persistent efforts to equalize. Then Jeffrey Perriera’s goal in the 90+2 ultimately sealed the victory for Guyana Defence Force.
The KFC Elite League Cup features ten participating teams organised into two distinct groups. Group A includes Guyana Defence Force, Santos, Buxton United, Fruta Conquerors and Milerock, while Group B comprises Western Tigers, Guyana Police Force, Den Amstel, Victoria Kings and Ann’s Grove.
The team winning the championship would receive a cash prize of $1.5 million, while the team placing second would be awarded $1 million. Teams placing third and fourth will receive $500,000 and $250,000 respectively.
Currently in its fourth week, the league continues to delight fans with exhilarating competition among participating clubs.
