…Tournament continues today

Bryan Wharton (on ball) netted a hattrick for Chase’s Academic Foundation

There were fireworks to be witnessed at the Queen’s College and Ministry of Education (MoE) grounds when Round 2 of the KFC Goodwill International Series was contested on Thursday.
Chase’s Academic Foundation were the first winners of the day, having dominated Bartica Secondary 4-0 at the Queen’s College Ground. Bryan Wharton was again the marksman to net a hat trick, with goals being scored in the 42nd, 45th+1 and 73rd. Bevon Jones got past the Bartica keeper in the 71st minute to add to Chase’s tally.
Also at the Queen’s College Ground, Suriname’s VMO 4 got the better of Carmel Secondary in a close encounter. VMO’s Arivin Djojoseparto opened the scoring in the 9th minute, but Carmel’s Shem James struck in the 23rd to level the scores.
Capitalizing on another freekick opportunity, Djojoseparto put his team ahead again in the 48th, but Ian Daniels equalised for Carmel in the 51st.

However, in the 70th minute, Djojoseparto scored again for his side, and Carmel failed to level the score again, resulting in the 3-2 win.
Then over at the MoE Ground, St. Ignatius threatened the Jamaican team Clarendon College, but couldn’t hold on. After a quiet first half, Stephon Sprosta of St. Ignatius struck in the 46th to put the Region 9 outfit ahead. However, Dameon Simms equalised in the 55th, and his teammate Ronaldo Williams handed them the lead in the 64th. In the 84th, Nicholy Forbes extended Jamaica’s lead for a 3-2 victory.
The final game of the evening saw a repeat of last year’s final, but this time Trinidad’s St. Benedict’s College came out on the winning side over D.C Caesar Fox (Waramadong) Secondary 6-0.
Keanu Morean opened the Trinidadians’ account in the 5th minute, and Jeremiah Niles struck in the 10th, 17th and 53rd minutes. Then Nesean Alexander and Malachai Webb netted in the respective 39th and 40th minutes for the 6-0 win.
