Khan (102*) spurs Invaders Masters to victory over Trophy Stall Masters
Invaders Masters defeated Trophy Stall Masters by 50 runs in an invitational Over-40 T20 match on Sunday at Reliance Ground on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
Invaders Masters, batting first by insertion of the visitors, set a formidable 199-7 off their 20 overs, while Trophy Stall Masters reached 152 for 8 at the end of their overs.
The right-handed batsman Fazeer Khan hit a belligerent unbeaten 102 for Invaders, which consisted of 11 sixes and three fours. Former Essequibo inter-county player Ramesh Narine supported with 36, and 25 came from ex-Guyana youth player Beesham Seepersaud.
Off-spinner Lloyd Rooplall grabbed three wickets for 33 runs off his allotted four overs.
When Trophy Stall Masters batted, Hardat Singh made 33. Two wickets each came from Narine, Seepersaud and skipper Daniels. Khan, named player-of-the-match, received a trophy, compliments of Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and City Mall.
And Invaders Masters won a five-over softball encounter between the two teams by 41 runs. Invaders tallied 99-1 off their five overs, while Trophy Stall Masters responded with 59-4.
Leading the way for the Invaders was Narine with 73 not out, which included eight towering sixes and two fours. Lakmikant Narine (unrelated) scored 25.
In Trophy Stall Masters’ innings, Sunil Hardat scored 25, and 21 not out came from Ravendra Madholall. Each team collected a trophy, while Ramesh Narine was adjudged player-of-the-match. Trophies were donated by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and City Mall.
