Khan stars in Torginol Paints Annual Golf Invitational
Local pro Kassim Khan took top honours as he walked away Champion of the 2018 Torginol Paints Annual Golf Tournament played Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course.

Weather permitted a good day for play as pros the calibre of Brian Hackett, Mike Mangal, Max Persaud, Nazeem “Papo” Haniff, Lusignan Golf Club President Aleem Hussain and others did well but were not good enough to spoil Khan’s outing.
Apart from Khan, other notable winners included Kaylan Tiwari – the Longest Drive (the only golfer to drive 200 yards into the fairways) and Rabindranath Persaud, Nearest the Pin. Khan also won the Best Gross (78) award.
Meanwhile, the Best Net Trophies were won by Kalyan Tiwari 73/13 – 4th (he tied with Maurice Solomon for 73); Nazeem “Papo” Haniff 72/9 – 3rd; Persaud 69/17 – 2nd, and Khan 68/10 – 1st.
Following the match, Torginol Paints Production Manager Fenton Persaud, in congratulating the winners at the brief prize presentation ceremony, reiterated Torginol’s 15-year and continuing commitment to support the LGC and golfing in Guyana.
In response, Club President Hussain expressed the gratitude of his organisation for such continuing and stalwart support from Torginol Paints.
