Over the past weekend, Guyana’s representative to the Miss Black San’ International Swimsuit Pageant 2018, Faydeha King, walked away with the coveted title. The pageant was held in St Kitts where King outshone her eight rivals to win the title.
This makes the second year Guyana has won the pageant. Last year, Xameria Kipping won the crown and title as the first ever queen.
However, this year, King walked away with the Top Designer Swimsuit, Best in Identical Swimwear, Best Top Model and Best Battle of the Brushes MUA awards. All the contestants competed in various swimwear segments showcasing the rich culture of the Caribbean.
Twenty-five-year-old Faydeha King, who is no stranger to pageantry, is a social-ills practitioner who is currently completing her degree in social work and masters in psychology and she hails from the ancient county of Berbice.
She participated in several pageants including Miss Skeldon High, Miss Berbice, Miss Bartica Regatta, Miss Jamzone, Miss Universe Guyana, Miss Caribbean Culture Guyana, Miss Caribbean Culture Regional, and Miss Global International.
Meanwhile, the Black San’ Bang-a-Lang is an eclectic community festival, with events ranging from open-air concerts and talent pageants to J’Ouvert street jams in which calypso bands parade through the streets.
The local director is renowned Guyanese designer Randy Madray.
