King-Medas 5K classics concludes successful 7th edition

The 7th annual King Medas-Pansy Adonis 5K Classic concluded on Sunday following four days of intense races.
Over 300 athletes participated in the various categories of the classic which ended at the Buxton Community Center Ground, with Larry Josiah, Orin Josiah and Charles Williams capping off the top three spots in the Masters Male category.

Alicia Fortune emerged winner of the Masters Females category while Collia Rowe placed first in the Senior Females category. The Senior Male race was dominated by Winston Missenger who won first place, followed by Cleveland Thomas and Devaun Barrington.
Over 3 million dollars in prizes were distributed to winners of all the respective categories while other prizes like laptops and desktops were also awarded to winners. Meanwhile, Director of Sports Chris Jones promised that the event will be bigger next year and indicated it will be held during August of 2018 as it will help to encourage more participation from the schools.
Organiser Andy King-Medas thanked all the participants for their support and urged the athletes to remain steadfast in their training and find the right balance with their academics since next year he will attempt to fund scholarships to the University of Guyana.
King-Medas was also extremely appreciative of Banks DIH under their Rainforest Water and Powerade brands.
