Kings, Cougars in winner’s row

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League III continued on Friday at the Georgetown Football Club Ground, where Victoria Kings and Cougars United recorded wins.
In the opening match, Cougars prevailed in a closely fought match against Buxton United which finished 2–1.
Mark Wronge led the way for the eventual victors with a double, scoring in the 29th and 77th minutes, while Timothy Abert’s 30th minute goal for Buxton kept the game levelled until Wronge found the decider.
Later in the night, Ann’s Grove found themselves in a familiar position after losing to Victoria Kings in the feature match.
Kings finished the first half trailing, following Dwight Peters’ goal which was scored on the brink of half-time.
However, Alden Lawrence found the equaliser eight minutes later then Aubrey Gibson gave his side the upper hand in the 72nd minute when he found the back of the net.
The League continues on Sunday at the Den Amstel Ground as Buxton meets Fruta Conquerors at 14:00h then Den Amstel takes on tournament leaders, Western Tigers at 16:00h.
