A 16-year-old Kitty, Georgetown resident is now in Police custody, having been subdued by a male whilst he was in process of committing a robbery along the Kitty Public Road in Georgetown on Monday morning.
Reports are that a gold miner of Canal No. 1 Polder, West Bank Demerara was standing on the Kitty Public Road in the vicinity of the Seawall, awaiting a taxi, when he was attacked by the teenager and three other accomplices, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The 30-year-old victim was relieved of two mobile phones and a sum of cash. But as the suspects were fleeing the scene, the victim valiantly pursued them, and apprehended the teen who, because of an injured foot, was unable to keep up with the pace of his accomplices.
Upon his arrest, the suspect was found in possession of one of the victim’s phones. He remains in Police custody, and is assisting with investigations. The Police have launched a manhunt for the others.
