Home Sports KMTC in perfect shape for Boxing Day Classic – Kennard
All roads will lead to the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) at Bush Lot Farm for the annual Boxing Day Horse Racing extravaganza where more than 65 horses will battle for honours on what promises to be an exciting day of horse racing.
The feature event is for horses classified C and lower covering a distance of nine furlongs with the winner set to ride away with $1M and the Metro Office and Computer Supplies trophy.

The other races of the day include the L- class Non Winners, F and Lower, Two-Year-old Guyana Bred Open, L Class Open, H and Lower and the J3, K, L and Lower.
There has been some rain recently however, president of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club, Justice Cecil Kennard has confirmed that a full day of excitement is anticipated since the track is in perfect shape despite the recent rain.
“We haven’t had rain on the Corentyne for a long time and this rain will certainly help the race track because it was bone dry and we needed a little moisture in order to complete the preparation of the track,” Kennard stated.
Kennard is expecting a full turnout once again as turfites from near and far have already shown their interest. “A lot of Guyanese look forward to the traditional Boxing day race meet and quite a few have already come from abroad to support the race meet.” the long serving president noted.
The Boxing Day race meet is a tradition since 1936 and is the signature event for the KMTC.
For the feature race, a lot of competition will come from Storm Bird, Goodwill Boy, Lady Budapest, Beave Sky, Honey Flow, Just Call Me Boss, Princess She Is Not, Vera Finally as they will try to dethrone defending champion Golden Blue Echo.
The horses will take to the starting gates at 13:00h for the first race. Admission is $1,200 for adults and $600 for children.
