Knife toting bandits rob female students leaving classes

Two female students attached to the Critchlow Labour College were robbed at knifepoint after leaving classes on Monday evening. The incident took place in front of the College on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown, at about 21:00h.
The two victims – a 20-year-old of Camp Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, and a 28-year-old of Block 8 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), were attacked and robbed by eight men on bicycles.
The 20-year-old woman was relieved of a Samsung Galaxy cell phone and $23,000 in cash while the 28-year-old was robbed of a Samsung A30 cell phone and $8000 cash.
Police stated that the victims had finished classes and were waiting on transportation to head home when they were approached by the perpetrators.
One of the suspects who was armed with a knife, pointed it at the victims in a menacing manner while the other gang members relieved them of the mentioned articles.
After relieving the victims of their valuables, the suspects then made good their escape. The matter was reported to the Police and an investigation was launched.
