Knife-toting youths rob security guard

A thirty-one-year-old security guard was pounced on by two youths on Saturday morning at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, Georgetown. He was held at knifepoint and relieved of his belongings, but one of the suspects was arrested shortly afterwards by an off-duty Police rank.
Based on reports received, the incident occurred at about 10:15h. The victim explained that he was walking along the Industrial Site road when he noticed two suspects trailing him.
“When I was walking in, two guys was behind me, and I observe they was moving suspicious. They was coming out [the street] and I was going in. One of them signal the guy that he was with, and they circle back,” the distraught man explained.
He said the two suspects attacked him with what he described as a “long” knife that one of the suspects had, and he was relieved of his bag and two phones valued at $25,000.
“They attack me, choke me, take everything that I had, and start running. One of them had a knife…a long black knife. They take my bag and my two phones,” the victim explained.
The security guard said he started to scream, and an off-duty Policeman who was nearby arrested one of the suspects, who is a 17-year-old resident of Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
“I start yelling, ‘Thief!’ This guy (the Police officer) charged towards the two of them.
Realizing that they were being chased, the teen threw the bag and the phones on the ground as they ran away. The Constable called for backup, and ranks on a patrol subsequently arrived and took the teen into custody,” he detailed.
