KPL Fundraiser bowls off on Sunday at Everest

Foftball teams were busy with preparations for the long awaited KPL softball tournament which was delayed by the inclement weather. Teams will be happy to know that this Sunday eight matches will be played at the ‘Mecca’ of softballSoftball copy cricket, the Everest Cricket Club from 9:00h.

Dave’s Pharmacy of Albert and Sixth Street have contributed in a healthy way to the tournament which is being used to raise funds for the Organizing Secretary of the Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL), Samuel Kingston. Dave’s have donated trophies to Kingston.

Kingston was hit in the eye while playing a game at the Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) ground on Woolford Avenue and as a result is expected to undergo surgery on his eye.

The operation which will be done in Trinidad and Tobago next in February 2017 will cost approximately US$5,000.

The tournament will be played in the over-40 and open categories with an entrance fee of $20,000 in each division. The big white ball will be used in the Over 40 category which will be of 20 overs duration, while the Open segment will be played with the supreme balls and will be 15 overs a-side.

In the Masters’ Category, On Pitch One at 10:00h, Mike’s Wellman open against Regal Masters while on Pitch Two, Wolf Warriors battle Ariel Masters. In the afternoon, the teams will be back in action again with Mike’s Wellman taking on Wolf Warriors at 13:00h on Pitch One while Regal Masters take on Ariel Masters on Pitch two.

In the Open Division, new comers Pigeon XI open their campaign against powerhouse Regal All-Stars at 9:00h followed by Super Stars versus Herstelling Raiders at 11:00h then Pigeon XI against Super Stars at 13:00h. The final match of the day will be between Regal All-Stars and Herstelling Raiders at 15:00h.

At the conclusion of the tournament the winning teams will receive trophies and medals.
