KPMG Tax Director admitted to Guyana’s Bar

Trinidadian Taxation Lawyer Gillian Wolffe O’Neil has been admitted to the Guyana Bar by acting Chief Judge Roxane George following the presentation of her application by Attorney-at-Law Jamela Ali.

O’Neil completed her legal education at the Hugh Wooding Law School and was admitted to the Trinidad Bar in 1989. Currently the Tax Director of KPMG Trinidad and Tobago, she brings to Guyana a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area of taxation, particularly corporation tax, employment tax, Value Added Tax, property tax, and stamp duty.

She has experience training professionals, including attorneys-at-law, auditors, tax practitioners, human resource professionals and accountants, in tax technical and compliance issues. In collaboration with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), O’Neil recently hosted a seminar on VAT.

In presenting her petition, Ali underscored the importance of O’Neil’s expertise, since it can be beneficial to the Guyanese populace, and wished O’Neil well in her practice.
