Home Letters Kudos to the Guyana Police Force in the ‘carjacking’ spree
Dear Editor,
I wish to take this opportunity to highly commend the work of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), particularly on their success in placing a dent (so to speak) in the rampant carjacking spree recently.
We saw that a fellow columnist of this newspaper was also a victim of this chronic crime.
The prevalence of a growing crime rate in a country can lead to serious adverse economic consequences with respect to investors’ confidence in the economy, and attracting new foreign investors to our country, and even for the tourism industry.
I also wish to emphasize the need to commend the Force at a time when there seems to be quite a number of rogue elements within the Force and among former members. This, again, has the potential to deter the workings of the GPF and damage the reputation and confidence of the citizenry in the GPF.
It is against this background that I take this opportunity to highlight the positives of the GPF, and to encourage them and the citizens at large to continue to support and co-operate with the GPF to solve more crimes, which have become very worrisome for the country at large.
Yours sincerely,
