Jamal Gilkes, 23, of Kwakwani Park, Upper Berbice River was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the offence of Rape of a Child under 16 years.
Police said the rape occurred on July 8, in a community located in the Upper Berbice River.

However, on Friday, the accused appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The charge was read to him and he was not required to plea. He was remanded to prison and the case was adjourn to November 8. (G9)
