Chairman of the Kwakwani Neighbourhood Development Council (KNDC) Merna Adrian and Vice Chairman Kelvin Daly were officially sworn in as elected representatives of the Council on Thursday, at a swearing in exercise, conducted at the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) in Linden.
The exercise, which saw the two officials taking the oath of office, was conducted in the presence of Regional officials, including Chairman Renis Morian, Vice

Chairman Elroy Adolph, Regional Executive Officer (REO) Gavin Clarke and numerous Councillors.
Speaking with Guyana Times following the ceremony, Chairman of the KNDC, noted that elected representatives have several developmental activities planned, some of which are already ongoing in Kwakwani. She stressed also that there is much work to be done within the community by the NDC.
“We started some projects in 2016 that we will be completing in 2017. We have some road projects and we have a lot of infrastructural works to do- like school fences and grounds, the ball field area. We have a lot of work to do”, Adrian pointed out.
Additionally, highlighting several issues in the community, Adrian pointed to roads, garbage collection and drainage. In an effort to curb garbage woes, she noted that a community clean-up campaign commenced last year and is presently ongoing.
