Labourer charged for robbery

A labourer was on Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Leron Daly when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a robbery charge.
Emmanuel Larry, 23, of East La Penitence, Georgetown, is accused of robbing Christopher Rambarran while using personal violence during or before the robbery.
Larry however denied the charge.
The prosecution’s case stated that on April 5, 2018, while in the vicinity of Longden Street, Georgetown, he robbed Rambarran of one cellphone valued $44,000 and $27,000 in cash.
Reports are at about 19:30h, the Virtual Complainant was walking along Longden Street, when he was reportedly approached by Larry, who was in the company of others, and choked and robbed him of his valuables.
The court also heard that a Police Officer was in close proximity and saw the ordeal and grabbed onto Larry. A search was carried out and the items were allegedly found in his possession.
A further search was conducted while at the Brickdam Police Station where Police later found 16 grams of cannabis in his clothing. Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the offence.The Magistrate agreed with the prosecution and remanded the defendant.
The case will continue on April 27.
