A labourer, who was chopped several times while working at a location in the backlands of Albion, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), has died. Police in a release on Monday evening said the man died at about 16:00h on Monday at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Dead is Vishnu Dalchan, 53, a labourer of Follow Up, Albion.
Police had initially reported that he was attacked by his workmate, who goes by the alias “Gangster.”
According to the Police, another colleague told investigators that he was informed that “Gangster” had injured Dalchan during a misunderstanding.
During the attack, the labourer sustained wounds to his chest and left shoulder.
Dalchan was discovered in an unconscious state in the backlands and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was admitted and later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital for a Computerised Tomography Scan.
Meanwhile, the body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. (G4)
