Labourer fatally beaten by brother during dispute

Police in Regional Division Two have launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a labourer at Capoey Mission, Capoey, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). Dead is Leslie Edwards, also known as “Bumpy” of Capoey Mission. Reports The incident reportedly occurred around 14:10h at his home. According to police, Edwards and his 59-year-old brother, with whom he shared the residence, were at home when an argument ensued between them. The disagreement is said to have escalated, and during the confrontation, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a garden hoe and dealt Edwards several blows about his body.
Police were contacted and responded to the scene, where they found Edwards lying motionless in the yard. He was picked up and rushed to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been taken to the Suddie mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. The 59-year-old suspect was taken into police custody and later escorted to the Lima Regional Hospital for medical attention. He remains under police guard as investigations continue.
