Labourer fined $195,000 after admitting traffic offences

A 24-year-old labourer of Charity Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was fined a total of $195,000 after pleading guilty to several traffic offences at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Fined: Shimron Caser

Shimron Caser appeared before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed charged with failing to have an identification mark at the rear of a vehicle, breach of insurance and driving without a licence. The offences were committed on April 11 at Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast. Caser pleaded guilty to all three charges and was fined $130,000 for failing to have an identification mark at the rear, with three months’ imprisonment in default of payment. For breach of insurance, he was fined $25,000, with two weeks imprisonment in default. He was also fined $40,000 for driving without a licence, with three months’ imprisonment in default. The total fines amounted to $195,000.
